Sixth Form

Life at QEGS Sixth Form

The ethos of QEGS Sixth Form is one of high expectations and achievement, so that all students reach their full potential in a supportive environment. In our Sixth Form, students flourish as confident, intelligent, resilient and ambitious young adults. Equal importance is placed on both academic achievement and personal development. As well as being the final stage of the school journey for QEGS Year 11 students, we offer the perfect setting for new students to join us in the Sixth Form.

We ensure a smooth transition from Year 11 into the Sixth Form so that students become independent learners with highly effective study skills. Our Sixth Formers are an inspiration to the younger students and participate regularly in whole school events acting as ambassadors and role models. They are encouraged to make the most of the wide variety of leadership and co-curricular opportunities available to them. QEGS Sixth Form students achieve outstanding results. With expert support from teaching staff and the Sixth Form team, they are able to progress to their chosen universities, apprenticeships and careers.

The Sixth Form benefits from being close to the amenities of High Barnet as well as excellent transport links via London Underground (Northern Line), New Barnet Railway Station and multiple bus routes that stop directly outside the school.

Vanisha - Head Girl

It is a privilege to serve as Head Girl at QEGS this year. I am currently studying A-levels in Mathematics, Politics, and Economics, alongside completing an EPQ, and I aim to pursue Politics and Economics at university next year.

Throughout my time at QEGS, I have embraced numerous opportunities to grow both academically and personally. Over the past seven years, my school journey has shaped me into the confident, driven, and approachable individual I am today. I have been able to achieve milestones such as initiating a podcast series to inspire students, and organising large-scale events like International Day.  These experiences have increased my leadership, communication, and organisational skills whilst creating a strong sense of community.

As Head Girl, my vision for the year includes introducing more enrichment sessions focused on work-readiness skills, supporting teachers by reducing workload, and organising additional events to promote student engagement and collaboration. I am also passionate about creating opportunities for students to connect with inspiring external speakers. Drawing on my experiences meeting influential figures such as the President of the Supreme Court, the Mayor of London, his team, and even the Prime Minister, I intend to invite these individuals to share their insights with the school community. By doing so, I hope to motivate students to aim high and think beyond traditional boundaries.

In addition to my role as Head Girl, I serve as Deputy Chair of the Barnet Youth Assembly, where I represent the voices of young people and collaborate with policymakers on meaningful initiatives. I am also a content creator for Future Leaders, through which I highlight impactful messages and inspire others.

QEGS has been a second home to me, offering a nurturing environment where everyone is encouraged to excel, no matter their aspirations. The dedication of the teachers and the school’s inclusive spirit have made every moment here memorable and fulfilling. I am excited to give back to the community that has given me so much and to leave a lasting legacy that benefits both current and future students.

Sofia - Deputy Head Girl

Over the last seven years at QEGS, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time, from the lifelong friends I’ve made to the huge support and guidance from my teachers. I can confidently say that my time at school has shaped me into the confident, hardworking student I am today. I am currently studying History, Politics, and Geography at A Level and plan to pursue a degree in History and Politics. Beyond my studies, I have the privilege of running both a History and Politics club, where students can discuss topics, like current events that go beyond the curriculum. It has been an honor to serve as one of the deputy head girls this year, and I have truly loved my time at QEGS and in the Sixth Form. I feel grateful for all the opportunities it has given me, both academically and personally.

Lila - Deputy Head Girl

I am currently studying Politics, History and Sociology at QEGs Sixth Form. I am planning on going to university next year to study Politics and International Relations and hoping to get a work placement abroad! Throughout my school career at QEGs I have been involved in a lot of extra-curricular activities: football, history club and even the QE together project where we joined together with QE boys and did a litter pick. I have really enjoyed being a student at QEGs which is why I decided to be a part of the officers team and help the wider community.
