Sixth Form

Life at QEGS Sixth Form

The ethos of QEGS Sixth Form is one of high expectations and achievement so that all students reach their full potential in a supportive environment. At our Sixth Form, students flourish as confident, intelligent, resilient and ambitious young adults. Equal importance is placed on both academic achievement and personal development. As well as being the final stage of the school journey for QEGS Year 11 students, we offer the perfect setting for new students to join us in the Sixth Form.

We ensure a smooth transition from Year 11 into the Sixth Form so that students become independent learners with highly effective study skills. Our Sixth Formers are an inspiration to the younger students and participate regularly in whole school events acting as ambassadors and role models. They are encouraged to make the most of the wide variety of leadership and co curricular opportunities available to them. QEGS Sixth Form students achieve outstanding results. With expert support from teaching staff and the Sixth Form team, they are able to progress to their chosen universities, apprenticeships and careers.

The Sixth Form benefits from being close to the amenities of High Barnet as well as excellent transport links via London Underground (Northern Line), New Barnet Railway Station and multiple bus routes that stop directly outside the school.

Grace - Head Girl
It is an honour to be able to carry out the role of Head Girl this year at QEGS. Currently, I am studying A levels in History, Politics and Sociology and I aim to go on to pursue Politics and International Relations at University next year. The prospect of representing the school, bringing new ideas - both that of my peers, as well as my own - to the table and leading the student body is incredibly exciting, and I am looking forward to the year ahead. As our lives slowly go back to normal, I am aiming to reintroduce extracurricular clubs and activities, ranging from sports clubs to student-led study sessions, organising them with the rest of the sixth form team. Over the past 7 years at QEGS, my school journey has helped me become the confident, friendly and dedicated student I am today. I can say without a doubt that I have loved every minute of my time at school; the encouragement, dedication and motivation from the teachers on top of the warm school spirit makes learning an easy and enjoyable experience. QEGS embraces everyone and supports all students no matter their aspirations, ensuring everyone feels confident within their academic lives. Outside my studies, I have an interest in music, which I deepen through playing the piano. I also volunteer at my local scout group, as a young leader, which I have found useful in developing both communication and leadership skills. As Head Girl, I hope to inspire pupils to support one another, work hard and ultimately always try their best.

Lily - Deputy Head Girl
I am honoured and proud to be a Deputy Head Girl at QEGS. It has honestly been such an eventful journey. I am currently studying Psychology, Sociology and Drama and Theatre Studies at QEGS. I am planning to apply to apprenticeships such as Human Resources next year into big corporations like BBC and SKY. I am looking forward to all the upcoming events that we have planned here at QEGS, as due to unfortunate events in the past year, we were unable to go ahead with them. Apart from my studies, I am a keen fitness enthusiast that adores certain sports for example boxing, and as we are such a diverse school, I love to educate myself on other cultures. The teaching staff have always been amazing and encourage me to achieve all of my goals and I can honestly say it has been a privilege to be a part of the QEGS family.

Trixie - Deputy Head Girl
I am currently studying Drama and Theatre Studies, English Literature and Spanish at QEGS Sixth Form. I am planning to read Spanish at University or go to Drama School next year. Aside from my studies, I love to get outdoors and am a keen artist and photographer. Throughout my school career at QEGS, I have loved being fully immersed in the wealth of enriching extracurricular activities: learning, growing and finding my strengths as well as some incredible friends. Feeling a part of the wider school community is really important to me, having been a part of the school council and running the KS3 art club. After the challenges of the last few years, the prospect of reuniting as a close-knit body of staff and students, striving to achieve the very best we can is truly exciting. It has been a great privilege to be a part of the QEGS family, and I am honoured to take on the role of Deputy Head Girl.
