Women for Women's Health
All of Year 10 attended various talks and workshops regarding women's health and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. It was a very enjoyable day where our students also received some nutritional treats to take away.
Women for Women's Health is a service set up by highly expert senior female medical doctors. Along with other professional colleagues they wish to educate and empower women to make health choices that will help improve their own health and that of their families. The team, led by Mrs Nitu Bajekal, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, visited the school on Friday 5th February and spent the morning working with Year 10 students. Queen Elizabeth’s is the first school they have worked with and they reported that our students were very impressive in terms of their knowledge, resilience and courage. The girls were provided with a freshly prepared nutritional juice on arrival. The day started with a quiz on nutrition, face yoga and a presentation on the importance of posture. They then split into workshops on the following areas:
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Mindfulness
- Question and Answer workshop on sexual health
- Body Image and Self Esteem
- Nutrition
The students thoroughly enjoyed the day. They were provided with a goody bag of nutritional treats to take away with them and hopefully a new outlook on taking care of themselves. The organisation are going to be carrying out follow-up sessions in PSHE lessons and also working with other year groups throughout the remainder of the school year.
