Special Leave of Absence
Requests for leave of absence during term time should be avoided. This will only be granted in VERY exceptional circumstances and requests must be made at least three weeks in advance to allow for the request to be considered (we look at overall attendance, work record etc. as well as the circumstances of the request).
The government (Department for Education) has changed the instructions to schools from September 2013 to require that only exceptional requests should be considered: this does not include family holidays. There is a form for making exceptional requests below (or a copy can be obtained from the school office). If a parent does not make a request in advance or defies the decision of the head teacher a Fixed-penalty Notices (FPN) of up to £120 (per parent per child) may be issued.
