National Award Winners in Year 7
Cut Films is a peer to peer film and social media project educating young people about the dangers of smoking and Queen Elizabeth's have had a long standing involvement with this project for several years.
Stacey Williams from Cut Films ran 6 workshops for each Year 7 class during their PSHCE lessons. Our students learned about the dangers of smoking and they then had to devise a short film, create a storyboard for it, film it using media equipment and then edit it in order to produce their own short anti-smoking film. This collaborative project also involved the support of our Media Technician, Ms K. Excell.
In total, we entered 25 films into the competition this year and we were lucky to win 2 awards at the regional stage. One was for best film for the film entitled ‘Vision’ and the other was for runner up in the 12-15 year olds category for ‘Draw my Loss’. This meant that ‘Vision’ went through to the National Awards.
The National Awards were held at BAFTA headquarters in Piccadilly on Monday 4th July 2016. Our students Masomeh Moayedi Jorfi, Maha Saeed and Oneda Hoxha (7EAO) were very excited to be nominated for an award and came joint 3rd place in the 12-15 year old category. This represents a significant achievement and we are very proud of them indeed. Thank you to all students who submitted entries and for their high levels of motivation and commitment.
